2014 Spring Appeal
Help create a more peaceful mealtime environment
Over the years, IMS’s facilities have been upgraded to support continuity of practice. However, the Retreat Center dining room currently presents a challenge. With so many full programs these days, there is often congestion, especially during breakfast and light dinner, when there simply isn’t enough room to seat everyone. And as those of you who’ve been on a retreat well know, the noise in the dining room when we break silence can be quite intense!
Last year we initiated an appeal to renovate the dining area. Our vision now includes:
- an additional space – to create sufficient seating for every meal
- an outside deck – for dining during warmer weather
- a second tea station – to increase accessibility and relieve crowding
- an acoustical ceiling treatment – to soften sounds
The goal for this undertaking is $140,000. Happily, we’ve already raised over 90% of this amount. We invite you to make a donation to help us reach what’s needed for construction. When renovations are complete, the dining room will allow greater ease of movement during meals, better supporting the continuity of practice and the tranquility of retreat life.
May your generosity benefit all!
"Generosity enacts the quality of nongreed; it is a willingness to give, to share, to let go." ~ Joseph Goldstein
"Generosity has tremendous force because it arises from an inner quality of letting go." ~ Sharon Salzberg
